The purpose of The Hindu Temple Educational Scholarship Program is to strengthen the growth of the diverse Plymouth-Canton community by giving scholarship to deserving graduating senior students from the Hindu Temple membership families. The Plymouth-Canton school system will be supported by providing funding for school based activities outlined by PCS.


General Rules:

A total of five scholarships of $500.00 each will be awarded to graduating seniors who are members of The Hindu Temple, Canton, Michigan, USA.

One-time scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $500.00 per student. The scholarship can be used in any accredited college/community college of Higher learning institute in the USA.

The scholarship amount will be sent directly to the institution of choice after that student has been accepted. The scholarship amount must be used for tuition and books only.


Eligibility:

1 A completed application form.
2 Applicant must be a current senior at any High Schools who plans to enroll full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States by fall of 2013.
3 GPA of 3.00 or better (attach transcript with application).
4 Two letters of recommendation. One from teacher, coach or counselor and another one from someone outside of school that is not a family member.
5 The applicant must submit a letter explaining his/her academic goals and how he/she will contribute to the society in future.

Selection Process of Recipient:
1 Application can be picked up at The Hindu Temple of Canton or click here to download.
2 Completed application form is to be mailed by May 31 of current year to the following address:

3 The selection committee will review all the documents and interview the applicant (if necessary) prior to selecting winners and awarding the scholarships.
4 The candidates selection criteria including, but not limited to:
  • Quality of Essay
  • Academic Achievement (GPA and SAT/ACT Scores)
  • Leadership
  • Community Services
  • Recommendation letters
  • Work/School balance

Timeline:
Applications are due by May 31st of current year. The applicants might be interviewed between June 1st and June 16th of current year and the winners will be notified by July 4th of current year.
